I have been considering wrapping up a new rod on this blank, I have two on the older pearl brown blanks. Does anyone have recent experiences with these? I wonder if the blank action might have changed any with the ART construction, or what the finish is like. The biggest down side I found on the ones I have now is the finish is not very durable or attractive. Thanks all! Re: St. Croix SCV fly blanks

I asked St Croix about this, I was looking into the new 9' 4wt SCV specs (.315" butt with 3.5 tip) ..... nice and skinny 9' 4wt! .... asked specifically about the previous finish issues. They assured me there would be no issues with the new finish like the brown ones had.
They told me the tapers were completely redesigned for 2008. Don't know if they are as extra fast taper as before yet but I'm going to build one for myself for this summers Yellowstone area trip. Re: St. Croix SCV fly blanks

Marc hit it on the head James. The new finishes on the SCV fly rods are much more durable than the past brown color. The blanks have all been redesigned to create yet a lighter feel without compromising strength. The IPC mandrels and ART reinforcing are strong points in the designs. I don't think you'll be disappointed in the performance.
