Hi All,
In one of Gene Bullard's columns in RodMaker he stated several names of rod builders who pioneered the Rod Building Industry into what we have today. One of the people that he mentioned was named Pedley. I met Phil Pedley at his Rod Factory in the small town of Glen Ellen in the early sixties. Phil also had another business at the same site that made "cargo nets". I was told that he invented the technique of using fiberglass tape and resins, which he also used to make rods, to attach ropes together to make cargo nets. This technique allowed him to make nets way cheaper and faster than the established method of weaving the ropes together. While watching TV the other night I saw a scene of a port and sure enough they were using nets that were made in the same fashion as the ones Phil made at his shop. I am interested to know if there is anybody else out there knows of other Rod Makers who have used what they learned in building fishing rods into other products in other industries. Thanks to All, Lynn Leary Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
