Trim Ring for Fighting Butt

I am building a fly rod with a fighting butt. I would like to put a ring at the spot where the fighting butt meets the reel seat, something similar to the knurled gunsmoke winding check that I plan on using. the problem is that this ring needs to be about 11/16" or .6875" ID, and I've not seen anything that large in any of the sponsors' websites. any ideas?

The colored pieces that Mud Hole sells are Matagi, I believe. Check their catalog and see if they have what you want.

Tom,

I spoke directly to the sales folks from MudHole at High Point about this very subject. At this time they are not carrying Matagi products. However they said that they were going to look intu it. The only 2 distributors that I know of here in the US are 2 companies that are no longer sponsors here so I won't mention them. I do know that Billy V. orders direct from Matagi regularly. So that would be an option. The only bad thing is the shipping time and cost from Japan.

Johnny's Pond, sponsor to the left, carries Matagi.

I've ordered a few things from him and have had no issues.

you can order direct online, i was quoted approx $12 - $20 depending on size of the package for shipping, a little bit hard to understand japanese product sheets but you figure out what is what after a look. they respond to emails and are pretty helpful and quick

It looks like Johnny's Pond has something from Matagi that at least has a big enough ID. Thanks for the suggestions.

I am also looking for the very same piece of hardware for 2 builds. Matagi stuff here is pretty pricey, but no other checks or metal components I've seen come close to the size I need (size 16 Fuji skeleton, and the other seat is a 14 mm i.d. fly seat).
