AmTak NIRLF guide weight

I always comb the site for this kind of info. Thought I would actually contribute. I weighed these on my rcbs 5-0-5 scale. I literally trust my life to this scale – handloading wildcat ammunition. It is calibrated in grains, I converted the units to grams.

1. Ten size 7 NIRLF Titan Ring Lock Single Foot Fly Guides: 34.1 grains = 2.21 grams
So that is 3.41 grains = .221 grams per guide. I did not weight the guides individually. This is before any prep work done on the guide feet.

2. SVSG size 16: 1.763 grams

3. LVSG size 12: 0.8683 grams

Let me fill in the smaller sizes:

Size 6 - 0.17 grams
Size 5 - 0.13 grams

That is a reduced weight compared to their previous titanium fly guide.

Here is the weight of the Batson 3mm guides not Titanium

6-black framed TiN gold insert 3mm guides- weigh 0.3grams which equals 0.05 grams each.

Steve, not to mention the weight savings in the thread and epoxy. The wraps I have done are roughly 1/2 the length of a #6 guide.

Hi Brian,

Thank you for your efforts. We are extremely pleased with these guides, I am convinced that they are the best guides available. They are definetely lighter then SS frames and the feet are more flexible so I will be using them a lot.

Hi Steve/Mark, I haven't used the smaller guides with 3mm rings yet but I think I have some around here somewhere and will have to try them out. Over the years those sizes have been offered to us by various guide manufacturers that use them for Asian and European rod markets but we didn't want to order their stocked product and we haven't found enough interest to develop our own yet. I know the costs of tooling for our Ringlocks and Titan Ringlocks would probably prohibit us from going below the 5mm (unless of course we received an order for about 20,000 units which could justify the costs, not to mention make me very happy)

Good luck with all your builds guys.
