I am looking to build a 12lb test setup 6'6" spinning rod for large mouth bass. To be used in the lakes and rivers near San Francisco. I havent done much fresh water rod building mostly salt water. What would you suggest? Does anyone have any spacing setups?
Looking for something top of the line. I was looking at the Glomis and GUSA blanks. Re: Large Mouth Bass Setup for spinning rod, Suggestions?

For G Loomis ... SJ783 would be a solid choice, available from GL2 through GLX.
GUSA you will have to wait for someone else to chime in. However, another solid option would be a St Croix 3S66MHF and it is available in one or two piece construction - I prefer the two piece for portability and it is nicely matched with a St Croix travel case. Spacing setups can be found on G Loomis' site and St Croix's site IF you want to match factory spacing. IF you want to do "New Concept" spacing, read the primer in the library above. Be sure and check out the GLX P8400 7' blank. I use this rod for exactly the type of fishing you describe. Fantastic rod.

For your guide spacing you should use the New Guide Concept. RodMaker magazine 10-4, page 28. I think spells it out the best. You can also use the way in the article in the library [www.rodbuilding.org] Re: Large Mouth Bass Setup for spinning rod, Suggestions?
