Final Clean & Polish?

Just finished a Rainshadow RCLB 70 ML for a friend who gets to go to a "invitation only" 30 lb test tournament in June down south (yea, he's a dog)....

Does anyone have any tricks or techniques for a final clean up and/or polish?
My rods look ok when I'm done, but I'm always looking for that something extra.
I just want to add that extra sparkle......

Thanks,
Jon Gold

Spray "lemon Pledge" on a cotton cloth (piece of old tee shirt) and give the rod a good wipe down.

If at first you don't succeed, go fishing, then try, try again.

Try a good liquid automotive cleaner/wax like McGuiar's or Mothers. Cleans 'em up real nice, plus it will make clean-up after fishing easier.

I agree with Mark. I use McGuires Gold Label Auto Canuba Wax. The shine is the best and helps protect the rod as well.

Jon,
If you use the Pledge, just be sure you use it outside or away from your work/finish area. It contains silicon and will wreak havoc on your future finish jobs. I had to learn the hard way!

I just tried some good old fashioned Johstons Paste Wax and did a really nice job.

Ditto the Johnson's Paste Wax. A little bit goes a long way...
