Anyone knows what guide sizes fit a 2pc 5'2" spinning blank and how many guides are recommanded to build up this noodle rod with a 1 - 4lb line rating? Appreciate your prompt replies. thanks

I would go with a size 20 followed by an 8 or 10 and probably 4 #6 (or smaller) fly type ceramics using the new guide concept method in the library above.

Shawn,
The type of line you're using can make an impact on guide selection, as will reel size/type. I made some shorter noodle rods and tried several guide choices. For regular mono line, the recoil guides are amazing. I used a Shimano 1500 size reel for my sizing on a 7 foot noodle rod. My best results came from a size 25 stripper graduating to a 16, 10, 8, and then 6s for the rest. I tried adding mroe guide sizes, but the casting range got either reduced by more guides or the rod got unnecessarily heavy. I've made some 4.5 foot noodle rods too and used both ceramic and recoils on them as well. In general, I really like the recoil guides for noodle rods.

Stay away from large ring guides as much as you can with lite rods. Using lite line I often use the same set up Mike recomended, but actually only start with a size 16, the go to the 8, then all 6's. 1-4# line will follow that path no problem, and you'll be happy you don't have the extra weight on the rod.

Shawn,
I used to fish a lot in Malaysia. I think i know what you're using the rod for. Honestly, I would still go for the recoils, but since you asked, I think the ceramics you're looking for would be the Fuji titanium framed SiC. There are some models not available in the states that are lighter and more diminutive than the regular ones available in the states. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the model letters assigned to the guides I'm thinking of. If you really run into a jam, Uncle Bob at Tightlines Sportfishing out of Subang, malaysia has good iinfo on that stuff, but Sea Tackle in Singapore should also have the most recent Fuji catalogs. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
