Hey guys, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I'm very interested in learning how to build rods and know absolutely nothing about it. I was told that this was the place to come to learn so here I am. I'm looking forward to picking your minds through my learning curve. I ask a lot of questions so I hope I don't annoy anyone. After reading through a lot of the posts I can see that there is a wealth of info to be absorbed!

David, I would suggest buying a book called " Rod-Building Guide." Read that a couple of times and that will start you off right. This forum has a lot of knowledgable people that are more than willing to share.

Fred I'm a good 9 or 10 hours away from there so regretably I just wouldn't be able to pull that one off.

Terry, actually I just ordered that book last night. I'm looking forward to getting it and reading through it a few times.

David; When you have a question do a search on this site and read the FAQ's section as well. After that, ask all the questions you like and I sure someone will provide you with an answer. There are also some good articles in the library here.

DAVID;

Don't overlook Dale Clemens' books either. A lot of the technology is out of date, but there are still many good ideas and information contained therein. I see that Mudhole now offers a reprinting; see their post below... Your local library also might have a copy.

Good Luck, Ron.

Look at the builders listing in the Directory at the top of this page. If there is someone within a conveinient distance make a contact. Make a friend for life and advance your skills at a faster rate. If the 10 hours your refer to is south make arrangements to spend the time of your life in High Point, NC next weekend. Check the top of the page link on the left to the 2008 Custom Rod Expo.
