Wondering if any of you guys have built on Lamiglas blanks, specifically the XMG blanks, and what they're like. I've got a guy who would like one built up. But I don't know anything about them. How do they compare to the Loomis and Croix rods?
Thanks! AC FishinFreaks Rogers, MN Re: Lamiglas blanks

Hi Aaron,
Lamiglas has been one of the most respected brands for salmon, steelhead and sturgeon rods in the Pacific NW for years. The XMG line in particular have been used extensively by guides and anglers here for a long time. I haven't built any XMG's for customers personally, but have fished the rods and it would be a good choice. Service and warranty are excellent. Should compare favorably to Loomis or St. Croix. Skeet Reese is one of their bass pro's. Which models are you considering? Bass, Salmon/Steelhead, Fly? A little more info would be helpful. Terry Re: Lamiglas blanks

Great clarifying question, Terry. Looking to build a bass worm rod and a jig rod.
Looking at the XMG LMB843 & LMB845. AC FishinFreaks Rogers, MN Re: Lamiglas blanks

They are VERY high quality blanks, although bear in mind that they ARE super high modulus blanks. If your customer is a "tough guy", consider the IM700 series.
IMO, they are positioned somewhere between IMX and GLX in the Loomis lineup, as sensitive as the IMX yet considerably lighter. IMO, they are better than a SCIII but not as good as SCIV and SCV blanks - the IPC and ART combinations in St Croix upper end products just makes them incredibly durable yet light and sensitive. IMO, nothing approaches these blanks as a total solution. They are a VERY good value and you should most definitely buy one and build it for yourself - you will enjoy the rod no matter what and then you can decide whether you want to offer them to clients and, if so, which ones. AC
I have built a lot of rods on Lamiglass blanks and one of these rods tends to be the one I reach for most of the time. I have most of the St. Croix , as well as the Loomis, but I still prefer the Lamiglass most of the time. Build one and give it to yourself for a present. It is a great treat. Aaron -- The fellows have provided some very good info for you. Don't know if I would go quite up to the LMB 845. That is a a darn stout stick. The LMB 843 is a very nice choice, but also consider the LMB 864 for the heavier power of the two. If I can be of any help assiting you, just let me know.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to give the LMB 864 a try. We'll see how it turns out. AC FishinFreaks Rogers, MN Re: Lamiglas blanks

I have built two of the lmb784's and they are without a doubt the best rods I have ever used on bass. I use them for jigs, worms, brush hogs, etc. My hooking percentage and catch rate went up significantly with these rods... they are very sensitive and you can really "hammer" them with the hookset. My only lament is that lamiglas stopped making the 6-6 length. I am not real tall and the 6-6 is more comfortable for me. Also, I am tough on rods and these two have held up well over two seasons.

Lee -
Lamiglas allows and encourages the modification of blanks. Whack 6" off the butt of the 7'0" model and see how you like it.
