Anyone ever cut off some of the reelfoot on a reel? I never have, but I was thinking that even a quarter inch removed from both feet would save some weight, leave a couple fewer exposed threads on the reelseat...
I can just hear Tom telling me the weight savings would not make much difference to the performance of the rod since the weight reduction is on the butt section...and it would definitely void any warranty on the reel. (See how well you guys have me trained now!?!) Just curious if anyone has done that. Re: Reelfoot Reduction

Not much of an issue on a graphite reel, but with a metal body you'd remove the protection from corrosion. Re: Reelfoot Reduction

It would make a Pfleuger Medalist reelfoot fit those reelseats it is Not reccomded for if you take some off of the sides. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/07/2008 11:30PM by Ralph Jones. Re: Reelfoot Reduction

Part of one of the articles in this issue of Rod Maker has a little on trimming reel ft. But they are sealed afterwards to prevent any corrosion Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
