Hello all. Does anyone know what is the action of these fly rod blanks? I looked around the Baston site and couldn't find them.
thanks, Tom. Re: Rainshadow XCEL fly blanks

i think Xcel was the older designation. it seem batson is moving to the "RX" name designations (forecast now is RX6, etc). i think you should be looking for the RX8 or RX8+ blanks. contact batson for clarification.

XCEL was what they called the old RX8 blanks back when Cascade Composites was still making them. I have a fly rod in the 905-3 configuration. I posted the CC data on that web site; but if I remember correctly it has an AA around 67 and an ERN slightly above 6, so it is a fairly fast 5/6 wt. I believe the XCEL was around 51 million modulus. If you have an opportunity to pick one up at a good price and it is a blank that suits your needs, then I would think it's worth having. Re: Rainshadow XCEL fly blanks

The older XCEL blanks were nice blanks. Not only do the ones I've built cast well, but they fish well also. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
