Spine vs Straightest line

Date: October 04, 2002 11:58AM I have a 3 piece blank, when I spine each section and align the spines of each section and then spine the blank as a whole, there is an obvious bend in the tip of the blank when I sight down it. I found that I could ignore the spine on individual sections and adjust it to get the spine of the complete blank to be on the Straightest axis. So my question, how import is it for the spines of the individual sections to be lined up? I would like to build the rod so it looks straight, but not at the cost of performance. I hope this makes sense. Thanks, Tim Re: Spine vs Straightest line

Most factories set it up to use the straightest alignment. This is so customers who pick the rod up and sight down it (which they always do with the guides either straight up or down) will set the rod as being straight. Most custom builders I know set up the blank so the effective spines line up and put the guides on one side or the other. Normally, this will give you a slight bend off to one side or the other, but it doesn't seem to harm the performance at all. ............. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
