My dad has a custom built rod in which the guides weren't spaced correctly. There are 2 flat spots where the line is rubbing against the rod in 2 areas towards the tip under load. I know I can correct this problem cutting off the 2 incorrectly spaced guides, re-space and add an extra guide. Here's my question, when I take off the 2 incorrectly spaced guides, this will leave a mark or dull spot on the blank where the guides used to be. Is there any way to refinish this part of the blank after the guide removal? The blank is a fiberglass Shikari. Thanks for your help and suggestions. Re: Fixing a guide spacing mistake

After taking the guides off take a fine scotchbrite pad to the entire area between the remaining guides especially at the location of the guides you took off to remove any residual epoxy until the area is smooth then apply a light coat of permagloss in this area and rewrap with the 3 guides.
