I am looking advice on how to remove Hypalon grips from a blank. They were put on using epoxy. Re: Removing Hypalon Grips

Cut them off (lenghtwise), scrape off the epoxy, lightly sand blank and reapply whatever you desire. No real trick to it....just be careful you don't cut yourself. Re: Removing Hypalon Grips

Bruce gave you one of the better ways to do this. There is one other method you could consider, depending on what you're going back with.
If you have a rod lathe with enough power you can chuck it up and turn the grips off with a Stanley Surform file or similar. Turn down close the blank and then shave off what's left. ..................... Re: Removing Hypalon Grips

get about 3 feet of 80# test spectra and a pair of heavy gloves. Put on the gloves and wrap each end of the spectra several times around a hand so that its stretched out between your hands. Put the spectra against the blank at the edge of the grip. Start a sawing motion while pulling the spectra into the grip. For me this is a much faster and easier way to cut the grip off than using razor blades. By wrapping the spectra part way around the blank you can cut off almost 1/4 of the grip per pass. Hi,
I use a Russell International Utility knife # P94807. It can also be called an offset knife and also a sandwich knife. The handle is offset about 40* from the blade. This has a serrated cutting edge. I lay the flat of the knife on the blank and saw my way thru the grip. Then I use dry wall grid #80 that I cut into 1" strip from a full sheet to remove the left over grip material.
