I heard a banging noise and went into my rod room and noticed the rod fell off the dryer and had a paper towel rolling around on it when I pulled it off the paper towel was stuck to the finish. I need some options fast. Thanks Re: HELP PAPER TOWEL ON WET THREADMASTER

Hey Scott, Epoxy is easy. Just let it cure hard and then use a sharp single edge razor blade and shave the fuzz off. This is an easy one. I once found a knat embedded in the epoxy when I came home from work one day. I just shaved his little butt off with the blade and epoxied over the wrap again. The wonders of epoxy. Good Luck.

If the finish is still runny scrape it off carefully.Maybe a little heat will will soften it a little more.I would also try some denatured alcohol to attemt to clean it up.Never had to do it but that is what I most likely would do.Good luck Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Re: HELP PAPER TOWEL ON WET THREADMASTER

I was thinking of something like that. Just didn't know if there was another way. Thanks Re: HELP PAPER TOWEL ON WET THREADMASTER

I have made repairs with it still soft and also waited until it set up good to make repairs. I think it depends on the mess such as a paper towel would make ( I can picture it). Probably in this case I would clean up any smeared epoxy on the blank, then wait til it cured ,sand her down til it looked clean and apply another coat. I once dug out a fly that was standing in it up his knee caps. The finish was still soft but would not flow. I dipped up some from the foil with a dental pick and gobbed it in the fly hole , hit it with an alcohol torch, was good as new. J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: HELP PAPER TOWEL ON WET THREADMASTER

We have a habit of putting our sleeves in wet finish whilst doing something else at the bench till it dries.
We usually scrape the bad spots off and add another coat. On really bad ones we just start over (sleeve on fuzzy sweater). Uncle Russ Calico Creek Rods Re: HELP PAPER TOWEL ON WET THREADMASTER

I agree with Russ.
If the mess is bad - it is likely that you will need to scrape it off if it is really sticky, and when you do - you will likely take off the thread. So, scrape it all off - retie the guides, recoat - and then put the paper towels in another room so it can't happen again. --- I had a similar problem where I was using a portable dryer, that worked its way down the table and had one of the guides start messing with a rod support. I ended up retying the guide and recoating, and then accelerating the drying so that I could meet the 8 am shipment deadline that I needed to meet. Take care Roger Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
