Hi all,
The new Cabelas' FT+ blanks have caught my eye. Everything about them is appealing. Fast action, nice color, Made in the USA and the price is not bad at around $125. I'm curious if anyone has used them or if anyone used the discountinued FT rods or blanks. How do they compare with other blanks with similar price? Any opinions better buys for fast action blanks in this price range? Also, I was wondering if they come with the inscription printed on the blank and if this can easily be removed. I have no shame in using a Cabela's blank but I think the inscription is a bit ugly. Thanks, Kevin Re: Need some info on Cabela's new FT+ fly rod blanks. (Or similar blanks)

The inscription can be removed, or even covered with a solid wrap.
You're not gonna like the shipping cost. They have made shipping and handling into a profit center than can easily raise the price of whatever you buy, by 15-20%. These are pretty good blanks (not made by them, of course) but there are a number of blanks by other manufacturers that xan easily match these rods in quality and action. Some makers that come to mind are (in no particular order) American, PacBay, Batson (Rainshadow/Rainforest), Lamiglas, and Seeker. While you didn't give any specifics about length, action, etc., I would look at the other maker's sticks with similar specs to whatever you are considering. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
