Want to put white pearl on black rod. Know that rod should be painted under thread. Thinking to mask off area with painters tape and use some kind of spray. of course need a cleen edge to start and finish wrap. Idea that any body has would be appreciated. Thanks---Bill

Why not just double wrap it (two layers). Anytime I'm using a light thread on a black blank I do this and it really holds the color of thread with no need for paint or CP.

you could wrap it with white ncp thread first ,then put on a thin coat of finish . this should give you a good base for the pearl white. as for a clean edge you could always use a dork trim band to cover this. stan

Use the "Bill Stevens" approved method. Underwrap with Silver Metallic, then come back with your White Pearl. BTW, if that is White Pearl Metallic as in Gudebrod ... it DOES require CP or it will NOT look anything like that when finished.

Echo to what Jim Gamble posted above -- no CP on the Pearl White and it will be transparent with ''greenish" overtones. Gotta CP that and the YLI line of Pearl threads if you want that nice white, blue, green, red, yellow (YLI). Absent the CP it all goes clear & looks like tiny tinted glitter flakes

Hi,

I use 2 coats of flat white paint. Then 1 coat of Fex Coat color preserver. This coats the white paint with a hard coating. Now the pull thru string will not pull white paint off with it. HTA pearl or white nylon A shows up pure white.
