I just ordered the fixin's for a Forecast F662-4 spin/fly combo from Bob McKamey at Custom Tackle. I'm thinking 4lb Fireline braid (1lb diameter) throwing very light stuff - for small trout and panfish. It would be nice if it handled saltwater, for the annual excursion to the beach catching pinfish on the incoming tide in the canal. I don't have $100 to spend, but I don't want to put $10 into junk either. Re: Slightly off-topic - best value LIGHT spinning reel for F662-4 spin/fly combo?

Shimano Sedona SE750FB is a nice little reel for the money ($50). It will handle saltwater, with rinsing EACH trip and proper care. Quite a few guys here in Tampa use the larger sizes as their regular flats equipment. Re: Slightly off-topic - best value LIGHT spinning reel for F662-4 spin/fly combo?

Well? Think about it some? These spools are small and can be a pain to adjust the front drags when your fighting a fish, I use a rear drag Okuma Epixor ER30 Getting hard to find though. I have several stocked up, Now they have a new model that looks good also! Also keep in mind your {Ratio} keep the retreive speed up or you will be cranking your ars off. I've had better luck over the years with Daiwa than any other brand if that helps.

The little Diawa's, the little Shimano's, and now the smalles US Reel model are suggestions.

I have the Sedona 750 as my Sea run Cutthroat reel and it is very nice. Like stated earlier you can use it in salt if you rinse after each use. I have had mine for over two years with out any problem. Re: Slightly off-topic - best value LIGHT spinning reel for F662-4 spin/fly combo?

No idea how large pinfish is.
Here's some recommendation: 1. If you want a tiny and super tough reel, get a used Daiwa 500c from @#$%&. This is from early 1980s. I have a bunch and they are TOUGH with the largest drag for this sized reel. you can probably replace the drag with better material. I know a guy who fished his in salt water for small stuff regularly and caught a 3+ lb bluegill in freshwater. (if I remember correctly.) That they show up regularly one bay is part of the testament to their durability. 4.9 ounces is a bonus. 2. Okuma Hardstone from Cabelas (a Cabelas exclusive) was a great deal at $19.99 for the longest time. 8 bearings in a size 500+ reel. (Model HS10) I see they are back to normal $29.99 price. 5.5 ounces. 3. If you need larger, I personally am a GREAT fan of the Daiwa Exceler or currently Cabela's Tournament ZX on sale. ZX is a bit upgraded over the Exceler. Size 1500 is $54.99 currently - a very good buy. Mo Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
