Neat idea. Want to give it a try. When mounting the reel seat, how do I keep the epoxy or Rod Bond from leaking (or smearing) into the area opened for art work? How is the open window then sealed up? Since less of the reel seat is epoxied to the rod or supported by bushings, is this a better idea for light service rods than a hard working rod?
Thanks and Happy Holidays to all! Pesco Ergo Sum Re: Open Reel Seat Bodies: RM 10-6

You have to go in through the open "windows" and swab off any errant epoxy with alcohol.
Most often you'd only have two arbors or bushings in there anyway, one fore and one aft, which should leave enough room for some decoration in there if you want, even on heavier rods. ............. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
