Posted earlier on building on a Super Sticker handle kit and want to go without a foregrip. I am interested in using a Matagi HTWCL for a winding check to make a transition from reel seat to blank. How do I measure the blank to get the correct size winding check? Best place to order matagi components?
Also, any other ideas on making the transition from reel seat to blank on this handle? Thanks in advance. Re: Question on Matagi winding check.

Scott you have to use a micrometer to measure at the point where you want the check to be placed. The best with the guaranteed lowest prices for Matagi is at [www.johnnyspond.com] at Johnny's Pond. We have the whole catalog with nice clear pictures and sizing charts. You can always call us at 1-888-no-snags, or 1-888-667-6247. We are here to help. Measure the HANDLE first you dont want the htwcl to end up being bigger than the handle area it mates up with its going to look aweful... You need a caliper or metric measuring guage of some type. I dont think this can be done anyways the rod balnk would have to be pretty thin so the htwcl does not overhange the handle and end up looking like an umbrella. Another thing is the htwcl has a area that needs to go inside of the handle you hand to make sure it will fit which I doubt would also.
Here is my version of what you want to do... I used the standard matagi winding check in silver on this one. [s208.photobucket.com] Re: Question on Matagi winding check.

Henry,
I like the look of that check with the red accents. What is the red? Is that just a thread wrap in front of the check. Also, what size check meets up with the barrel of the reelseat like that? Thanks, Scott Sheets Re: Question on Matagi winding check.

The red area is just thread with a ramp made from finish. A 17mm is the biggest you can go or the check will interfere with the locking nut. Keep in mind those checks are ID+3mm = OD so a 17mm has ID of 14mm and 14 is the biggest you can use. Re: Question on Matagi winding check.

Opps that sounded a little confusing. 14mm is the biggest check thta can be used, matagi sizes them by ID. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
