pearl metallic and permagloss

Just put the first coat of permagloss on metallic green with pearl metallic trim band wraps. The problem is the pearl(fairly bright white) turned to a dull white, and you can actually see the green thread under the white inlays. Should I have used CP to keep the metallic pearl from changing color and becoming transparent.

Steve YES pearl is the one metallic that needs CP although sometimes the effects without it can be interesting

More likely the hot solvent in the PG did something with the pearl thread. CP would still most likely fix the problem, though.

Edit: Got thinking on this; I've not used the pearl metallic (but do have it) and I've read somewhere that it does tend to go transparent with finish on it. Most likely wrong what I'd said above...

Thanks for the replies. Next time I use that roll of thread I'll know it's the one metallic that needs CP.Looking closer you can also see the black blank through the thread. I'd call it semi-transparent.
