Hello all. I was wondering if anyone has built a rod on this blank? I am looking for a light action trout+smallmouth rod for smaller streams and this one looks promising. Any feedback in terms of action would be appreciated.
thanks, Tom. Re: Rainshadow IST 1201F

It's a steelhead blank, the discription on the Rainshadow site says about it all. I wouldn't take a rod that long to a small stream I'd use something more like the Rainshadow IP840. Re: Rainshadow IST 1201F

Thanks for the suggestion but I am looking for a longer blank. I would be using the rod in the same river where I go steelheading but in the summer months when the water is quite low. I am usually still swinging spinners and using the odd float so I thought either a lighter flyrod blank or this one would fit the bill. Any other opinions? Re: Rainshadow IST 1201F

Tom,
After the discription given in your second post, especially if you want a nice steelhead rod out of the deal also, I'd look at the Beulah 11 ft 6 in 5/6/7 spey blank. Danny Ross posts here and could really give you some assistance in you quest. Re: Rainshadow IST 1201F

The 1201 is the perfect blank for what you are looking for. I doubt you want to go any longer for swinging small lures. I use the 1201 for fishing small floats and jigs mostly but the 1201 does have some reserve power in the butt for swinging spinners. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
