GOSH! Being that I'm a newbie to rod building and this will be my first ICRBE, I'm afraid I won't be able to get any shopping done. I mean with all the seminars and demonstrations and trying not to miss one over another just soaking in the products available will be difficult.
Tom - Are you going to post some sort of schedulein advance for the seminars and demos? Re: 2008 ICRBE Update

The times for each will be in the new issue of RodMaker due out in mid December (just around the corner now).
I'll try to get the times up on the website in the next couple of weeks. ................. Re: 2008 ICRBE Update

Ash hopefully you will be able to deal with the "Shock & Awe" of all the "STUFF" for sale on the floor. Many simply loose track of time and miss the seminars alltogether. If you manage your time wisely a lot can be accomplished in this well structured event. It is really amazing how short that two day period of time proves to be! I wait patiently for months and it is over in the blink of an eye! Re: 2008 ICRBE Update

What really gets you is the SIZE of this event!! When you walk in you see this huge beautiful building with about a five story open air ceiling and then you turn right and go into the exhibit area and it just blows you away. The amount of stuff is amazing!! I was worried even after making the rounds a few times that I had still missed something that I needed!!
The whole thing is just done up right. Tom doesn't spare any expense and we are not talking about something going on in a hotel or some sort of pole barn or aluminum building. Everything is FIRST CLASS all the way!!! I heard announcements being made last year about five minutes before each seminar. So even if you lose track of time they will alert you before something you want to see begins. Re: 2008 ICRBE Update

Well I for one sort of wish Packard wood turning wasn't coming I could spend my entire budget at one booth LOL I think they have the largest selection of pure turning tools then all the rest of the big outfits.
Got to have all those goodies without having any idea how to use most of them John Re: 2008 ICRBE Update

Man…that sounds like it is going to be one incredible show! I am very new to rod building and I never knew such an event existed. Wish I could go, but can’t (time, money, work, family etc.). I was wondering though, Tom does anyone tape the seminars? I would love to be able to purchase them. Looks like an invaluable amount of information on rod building. Re: 2008 ICRBE Update

Ash,
Your problem is nothing new. I have had the same problem for five years. You just have to come up with some compromise. I seem to always miss some of the excellant seminiars to shop. Esd Smith Re: 2008 ICRBE Update

Don't discount the tons of info that can be picked up on the show floor and lounge area (not to even mention the Radisson Bar) just by talking to some of the 1,500 or so other builders, the vendors, etc. Keep in mind that everyone that puts on a workshop/seminar is also hanging around the show all weekend and I never met a rod builder that doesn't want to talk rods from morning to night! This isn't like other kinds of shows where most people look over the show and go home. Most attendees are there the whole weekend from opening to closing making and renewing acquaintances Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! We'll also be building a rod from scratch at our table. Stop by and join the fun, or just to comment (I can hear it now!), and if you're there at the right time maybe we'll make you help with the stuff that takes more than two hands. We were thinking that maybe everyone could do one guide wrap and instead of a butt wrap we'll all sign it for a reception prize for the 2009 show. :-}

Harold,
No, we don't allow taping. First, such tapes made very bad instructional tapes or DVD's, and the cost to edit and produce anything that anyone would actually buy would outstrip the number that would actually pay for it. Sorry. ............... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
