hey just wanting to ask if madeira thread is alright to use as guide bindings i have seen it mentioned here before but mostly for decorative butt wraps. i am making a rod for myself as an upgrade to my current one which i will then sell to a friend and i wanna use some very bright and flashy colors on it like the bright green and bright blue madeira thread.
so is it ok as a guide wrap thread and is there anything special you have to do for it to not loose its color? and also is it readily available in Australia or would i have to order it over the net? sorry jus one more is it alright to use as thread for a hologrpahic wrap i am interested in doing one or two on my new rod in between the split grip i am attempting and one of the butt if it looks ok. thanks in advance Tom Edited 1 time(s). Got a heavy surf rod thats been used about two dozen times by a dozen different people using 2-4oz plugs and jigs, with Madeira guide wraps, spiral wrapped guide set up.......AND NO FINISH. The guides haven't broke through yet so I figure its strong enough.

I use it a lot for guide wraps and have never had a problem. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Madiera Thread

It works great for Holo/Tiger wraps, weaves or anything else that you would use thread for. I use at lLEAST 2 good coats of CP. I use U-40 but use whatever you're comfortable with Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Madiera Thread

Tom,
Polyneon 40 is a tad smaller in diameter than size A thread, and Polyneon 60 is smaller in diameter than the Polyneon 40. Stan Re: Madiera Thread
