Does anyone know who make such a blank?

Its listed as that, but its got a pretty fast tip in my opinion.

When you say medium or medium heavy, what weights are you really talking about casting? There is generally a big difference between salmon and surf rods, or short carp rods for that matter with regards to m/mh power ratings. What will you be using the rod for?

Josh, my biggest barrier in my search has been in action not power.

I know where you are heading and you make a very valid point. Your point is that power rating are relative to the specie it was designed to target.

Rod of this length are designed for salmon (steelhead) or surf applications. I don't want to share too much because I will be making a rod that I'm not aware has been made before. It's not a salmon or trout.

The action is the key though. The referral from mark crouse would likely work great, but won't fit my price point. Because this is an experiment I can't spend too much on trial and error.

My new plan is to ratchet back my spec on action to Fast and give it a whirl.

I appreciate everyones help. This is the best source of rod building info.

I would follow Spencer's advice and check out the Lami XSH1202MT blank -- it's an extremely fast blank. Another one to have a look at is the XMG1202M, it's rated a little lighter but is a stiffer rod and i would not hesitate to run 20lb test on it.

Sometimes when your exploring the blanks for a special use you run into a few bumps, we've all done it. Luckily ,if your a multi-species angler or live in an area of year round multi-species angling you can always find a use for your mistakes. Some of my best rods for certain uses weren't originally built for that use.
