If you slide the guide out of the mono you can slide the mono easily.

I also purchased the Spider Thread to see how it works and it don't. You canit hold the guide and apply the thread with just two hands.

If I have to use masking tape to hold the guide so I can use the Spider Thread: I think it will easier to move the tape to the base of the ring and wrap. Adding the Spider Thread and then removing to tape does not save time, but just doubles the effort.

I have two spools of Spider Thread for sale real cheap.

You cannot wrap spider thread like normal thread. Spider thread needs to cross over itself as much as possible so as you tighten up the tension it binds into itself. Sort of heals itself together to form an elastic band. Larry is correct though, I have not been able to hold a guide with one hand and wrap spider with the other. Usually tape the guide temporarily and use both hands to wrap the spider thread. If you do it right it take up very little room on the guide foot and is very secure for test casting. This stuff takes some getting use to but can be very effective, at least for me it is.
