I've just completed my first tiger wrap and it looks awesome. Thank you Scott! My problem now is that after applying epoxy over the "over wrap" using threadmaster, the stubborn bubbles will not pop using an alcohol torch. I've heated the finish and stirred without a bubble. My bubbles were probably created when brushing the finish lengthwise creating pockets of air between the threads. I know Scott mentioned in his article to watch out for this and I thought I could just torch the bubbles out. This is a rod I'm building for myself so I'll live with the bubbles but for future reference, is there a certain technique to applying finish to the overwraps of the tiger wrap? Thanks for your help. The technique I am using is:
With rod not turning apply glob of finish to top with brush never touching the thread just slop it on from one end of the holo to the other - Allow finish to seep down betweer the threads on its on - Let it sit for about a minute - Lightly drag brush over the top of the finish to smooth - Flip the rod ninety degreess and do the same thing to the bottom of the wrap - After the finish has spread out on its own hold the brush in one position while rotating at chosen rpm - I use 200 rpm. Slowly hold the brush in one position and move it back and forth while the rod is turning to spread finish equaly around circumference and remove excess finish - This will make the brush move in the same direction as the threads lay and does not brush the finish at 90 degrees to the lay of the thread. This brush technique is designed for finish removal and spreading - When all excess finish is removed stop rod rotation - Let stand for three minutes at each position rotate 1/4 turn checking for excess on bottom - If your shop is warm enough any bubbles will break on their own - if not apply light heat at distance for air breakout - After two complete rotations place on dryer - Good Luck! instead of heat try blowing on the epoxy through a straw....thats how i get the bubbles out when they are there and that usually works to get them all out Re: Help with tiger wrap and threadmaster finish

Don't brush lengthwise on this particular application.
