I have a question for the builders who use the 1100yd spools of embroidery thread. When wraping guides with it, do you just put spool it off like gudebrod or do you have to pull it off the top? Re: using embroidery thread

I transfer it to small wooden spools. I tried using it straigh toff the spool on my Clemes thread carriage, adn under tension the thread will slip off the end and cause a mess. Re: using embroidery thread

I found a thread bobbin that is large enough to hold the whole spool and I just let the spools hang as my "tension device". Re: using embroidery thread

I was just looking for your book, Billy, I thought something about it was covered in there. Besides slipping off the end is prone to twisting? Re: using embroidery thread

Mike, if you havent had the thread dig in and pull 1/4 of the spool off yet, good for you.
I think that most Embroidery threads are designed to come off the top of the spool. I know this is a fact with cones. Re: using embroidery thread

Hand wrap - that might be the reason why. I have to add that I power wrapped when I had the problem. Detective Barkley good job, lol. Re: using embroidery thread

Scott,
To put a link to your picture in a post, Just go to the photo page and open the pic you want and copy the URL address from the browser and just paste it into the post. When you post it will change to a link to the post. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: using embroidery thread

Mark Griffin made a post some months back concerning this problem. His son came up with the idea of putting a Gatorade bottle top on the spindle , underneath the thread spool . That solved his problem. Does anyone recomember that post ? I didn't look it up. I am pretty sure he was talking about the same problem. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
