using embroidery thread

I have a question for the builders who use the 1100yd spools of embroidery thread. When wraping guides with it, do you just put spool it off like gudebrod or do you have to pull it off the top?

I transfer it to small wooden spools. I tried using it straigh toff the spool on my Clemes thread carriage, adn under tension the thread will slip off the end and cause a mess.

I found a thread bobbin that is large enough to hold the whole spool and I just let the spools hang as my "tension device".

I was just looking for your book, Billy, I thought something about it was covered in there. Besides slipping off the end is prone to twisting?

Mike, if you havent had the thread dig in and pull 1/4 of the spool off yet, good for you.

I think that most Embroidery threads are designed to come off the top of the spool. I know this is a fact with cones.

Billy,

Maybe it's because I hand wrap????? Or just lucky so far? No problems yet.

Hand wrap - that might be the reason why. I have to add that I power wrapped when I had the problem. Detective Barkley good job, lol.

Scott,
To put a link to your picture in a post, Just go to the photo page and open the pic you want and copy the URL address from the browser and just paste it into the post. When you post it will change to a link to the post.

Mark Griffin made a post some months back concerning this problem. His son came up with the idea of putting a Gatorade bottle top on the spindle , underneath the thread spool . That solved his problem. Does anyone recomember that post ? I didn't look it up. I am pretty sure he was talking about the same problem.
