my reel seat came in several parts, it has a sleve that i haved shimmed up with tape, it fits on the rod blank, there is another sleve that the reel sets on that goes over the first one. My question is do i epoxy the first one and the second together before i glue it to the blank.
its me again, i finished the GL IMX Spnning rod, it turned out great, thanks Tom for the emails and thanks to everyone else that took time to reply to my questions. as you can see iam lost again Richard Re: Fly Rod Reel Seat

That's the way I do it, makes lining up all the parts easier for me. Re: Fly Rod Reel Seat

Rich... Do you know the make / model of your reel seat? That will assist me and others with answering your question... I typically epoxy the insert to the blank first using masking tape shims and later epoxy the threaded sleeve to the insert, but not always. Depends on the reel seat design. Let us know which reel seat you're using... You have to be careful not to fill up the reel seat's stamped or milled hood with epoxy ( a common beginner mistake). You don't want to build a beautiful rod only to find out you can't mount your reel because the recess in the hood is filled with epoxy. There are other things to be careful about, as well...
