Enlarging reel seat grip

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone here has an idea on how to enlarge the grip on a reel seat. I have a ten and one half foot spinning rod that I use for salmon/trout that I build with a Fuji NSP size 16 reel seat. Unfortunately, when I grip the reel seat (usually with the reel stem between my index and middle finger), I find the seat uncomfortably small and tiring. I've thought of cork tape and may try that, but I am hoping there is some more permanent and comfortable way to enlarge the grip.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
The solution is very simple.
Cut the cork off the back grip.
Cut the reel seat off the rod.

Install a size 18 reel seat.
Put a new backgrip back on the rod and you are good to go.

No need to change the fore grip or any of your windings and guides.

It is a very simple and straightforward thing to do.

Take care
Roger

If you do remove the seat, you may wish to go even larger - to a size 20 or even size 22 grip. Very few average adult hands will find a 16 or 18mm OD grip to be optimum, particularly on such a long rod.

I built my two float rods, my wife's Salmon rod, rebuilt a factory GLoomis, plus redid one of my earlier projects with this grip installed in reverse from Fuji. It is as comfortable a grip as I've used. And I did the GLoomis like Roger described so I wouldn't destroy the factory logo.

If you dont want to destroy the rear grip use the Jessy Buky method and cut the rod in two pieces in the center of the seat.Remove the old seat and splice the rod back together with a piece of blank inside the blank and the reel seat on the outside with the bushing fit to the outside diameter of the blank.Glue it all up and fish it.

This is not the best fix for your problem but.....

Take a piece of large I.D. EVA and cut it to length then slice
down one side. open the cut side and slide it over the seat.

If needed try a little rubber cement to secure it. The rubber
cement is not that tough and easy to get off later.

If your sloppy this will look VERY guetto but it will still be comfortable.
Just don't be sloppy and it can even be made to look good

Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it..
