Have I left it too long between coats of Threadmaster? It has been two weeks.

Just scuff it with a scotchbrite pad and all is good.

As Ray said but remember to NOT use any solvent to remove the dust.Use abrush to dust it off.Solvent will only cause trouble.

Or....take a piece of tape and stick and pull of like a tack cloth to bring all the dust off the wrap and onto the tape. I like the blue painters tape for this.

Good idea with the tape Duane. Thanks.

I have used the gray Scotchbrite pads to do this and you just want to buff the finish. Don't bear down hard and deeply scratch it. You'll never know you re-coated if you buff it lightly and remove the dust.

Chuck you're welcome!

I use this on ALL wrappings and any area that will see finish, even over my newly wrapped guides with NO finish on them yet. WAY easier and better than any tack cloth. Pretty cheap too! one 1" wide roll will last you a LONG time.

My father-in-law retired from 3M so I have quite a supply of tape. I really like the 3M #2080 - very similar to the adhesive used on conventional low-tack "Post-It Notes". It doesn't disturb anything or leave any sticky residue - ever. I use it on threadwork but never even thought of using to remove dust. Duh! (Edit: I mean dust from Scotchbrite on finish)

I tried a painter's type tack cloth....once! (insert bad word of choice here).

The only painters tack cloth worth it's salt is the light "Blue" colored one made for tacking in between color and clear coating. It's not sticky, has no resdue and works very well....kinda like your post it note theme.

I've been using the blue painters tape a long while now and love it! Precise dust removal, easy and very disposable. Use a new piece every time.

I'm glad you guys expanded you're recommendatiosn to include the exact type of tape you are using, as many leave a sticky residue along with SIlicones to prevent the tape from sticking to itself.

For your viewing pleasure...

There's more than one type of blue painters tape. This is very smooth like paper. The inside of the roll is orange.

I believe there is a #2090 that has more tack than #2080.
