Many roofers will have scraps of the newer "roll" roofing material. Find a site where a roof is being put on a building and you can likely pick up all the scraps you need.

You have to get the rubber with the right amount of stretch for this. Rubber products have varying amounts of stretch so you may have to look around a bit.
When the rubber material in a flex coat finishing motor (cup) ripped I cut up a piece of rubber automotive tire inner tube to make a piece that would fit the cup. To cut the hole I used a regular 1/2" ratchet socket (referring to nut size not drive size) and a hammer. You can use a larger socket if you wish. I placed the piece of rubber over the flat area of my shop vise (the anvil portion), placed the socket centered where I want the hole to be cut, and hammered the socket until it cut through the rubber - a similar process to that used when hammering gasket material to make your own gaskets. I hit the socket only 4-5 times before the cut was made - a perfect circular hole. Since the piece of rubber was not cup shaped as the OEM piece I had to used a HOSE CLAMP to hold the rubber sheet with hole cut centered over the plastic cup of the drying motor. This set up remained while I ordered the correct replacement rubber cup, and remained in place even after I had the correct part. After all why mess with something it if it ain't broke. I replaced it after a few months, more like twelve, not because it was not working but because I had to do something with the new OEM part that was laying around getting int he way. Look for EPDM or non-foam neoprene. A guy on @#$%& who goes by Rubberman (as I remember) sells all that stuff and more. He's been one of my sources for such stuff, as well as teflon discs, viton washers, silicone discs, and nylon washers. Can be iffy on communication, but it does arrive just fine in my experience.
