Wheel's Reels Surf Blanks

I never heard of these blanks until a few weeks ago, and then all of a sudden I heard about them from four different people in a matter of a few days. I did a search here, and learned that they're going to be at the Rod Expo (one more reason to go), but other than that I didn't find anything.

I checked out their website, and found some info there (I like the fact that these guys seem to be diehard surfcasters). Does anyone have any other experience/feedback/information about them? About the blanks?

I'm not sure, but I believe these are blanks from TOmmy Wheeler, the US Distance casting Champion? I think they might be the same people who just imported the AFAW Any Fish Any Where blanks being sold by Fishsticks4U. I apologize if I have my info mixed up, which I probably do.

Billy,

Understandable confusion.

Tommy Farmer is the US champion in the 125 gram class.
Big Lou is the champion for 150 gram weights.

Tommy Farmer promotes/sells AFAW and Breakaway.

Tommy Wheeler manufactures Wheels Reels Rods.

My apologies to both Tommy's, and Big Lou, as well as to Chris for mixing that info up. Don, I appreciate the straightening out there. I also apologize for not having any info on these blanks.

I have been informed that they will not be at the ICRBE. Their fear is that it will create too much business for them (from what I've been told). From where I sit, that's a nice problem to have, but it's up to them to make that decision.

If I'm not mistaken, Tommy Wheeler operates on the east coast and AFAW is from the UK.

Don - The AFAW blanks are now being imported to the US by a couple of guys who have attended the last 2 Rod shows in NC. I don't know if they want their names mentiioned here, so I'm just going to foward this thread to them as I'm doing as best I can to not get info mixed up any more on this thread, lol. I do not know if they are attending the ICRBE this year with a booth, but I was under the impression they had plans to.

Just to clear things up, I and a couple of business partners are importing the AFAW rods and blanks into the country. FishSticks as well as Tommy Farmer are retailers for the rods and blanks, we are seeing a great interest in what we feel is a rod with great fishability as well as casting ability. As Billy had mentioned we will be attending the ICRBE in 2008. We look forward to being able to meet with the rod building and fishing community together under one roof. I have personally attended the ICRBE since it's inception and figured there is no better oportunity to showcase a great line of AFAW rods and blanks.

Hi Billy,

If you refer to the AFAW website, they list numerous dealers.
I'm not sure as to who the dealers or distributors are in the US.
There is one gentleman in Florida who imports, builds and sells the AFAW rods.

My mistake.
I spoke with the gentleman in Florida and he represents a tri-state area.

"There is one gentleman in Florida who imports, builds and sells the AFAW rods."
Imports should be deleted from the above line.

Don

Sorry if I offended anyone......I should have made it clear..... Tommy Farmer is a source for AFAW products....not the only source...

Neither are sponsors here so they won't be allowed to advertise or promote their products here on the board. I'd suggest talking to Robert at FishSticks4U as he is a dealer (I think) for both products. He should be able to answer any questions.

Anyfish Anywhere has purchased booth space at the show. Wheel's Reels has not.
