Steelhead Blank Recomendations

Great Lakes steelheaders often wade into the lakes at the various river mouths in the early fall to cast small spoons long distances to steelhead waiting to run up stream. I have been asked to build a rod specific to this type of fishing. The lures used are 1/4 oz. spoons (no bigger/no smaller). The line is usually 4 or 6 lb. mono. The rod would be of a spinning configuration and would need to be 9 or more feet in length. The kicker is that it can't be a typical steelhead noodle rod blank as these aren't good to cast with. The blank must have enough flex toward the tip to allow for landing a 10lb steelhead on 4lb line in open water while having enough backbone to maximize casting distance.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Haven't tried Mark's blanks yet, but just about all our sponsors carry a 1141 of one brand or another and they all will work well with 4 to 6 lb test. That's exactly what they were designed for.

A Lamiglas XMG1142LL or XSH1142LL sounds like it'd fit the bill. Both are 9'6", 4-8lb, 1/8-3/8oz rated blanks.
