Blank Recommendation Needed
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have a friend that wants me to build a rod that will mainly be used on his 19' bay boat. He wants to use the rod for light trolling, lure casting, and possibly a little bit of bottom bouncing. For the most part he will be striper fishing with it in the Chesapeake Bay. Also, we're looking for a blank that is reasonably priced, no preference on rod composition. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Walt Re: Blank Recommendation Needed

Walt,
I think that you are attempting to cover a lot of ground with one rod for all three of those types of fishing. It is pretty tough to recommend a blank for all three as trolling, casting and bottom fishing all require different characteristics in the rod. Can you narrow it down a bit? Emory,
I agree completely; he's trying to get a multi purpose rod. I would say if we can take anything out of the equation it would be the trolling part. I expect his trolling would be limited to a small shad body, or shallow running plug. I suppose what I'm really trying to find is something with a little bit of backbone that he can still cast. If you are limiting it to 7' I would look first at some of the medium to heavy Mag Bass blanks. They have relatively light tips but a lot of backbone in the butt sections. Because they are classified as Mag Bass does not mean the the heavier ones would not handle Stripers. Almost every blank maufacturer makes a series of these. Re: Blank Recommendation Needed

Rainshadow SWS70L is a good "multi-purpose" blank. Composite construction yet only 3.03 ounces at 7'0" and 12-20# line. Re: Blank Recommendation Needed

SWS70's are sweet... If those are still priced too high the SWB's are a great buy as well. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
