I use the brown stainless steel leader wire they use as bite tippet in saltwater. I take a 2-3 inch piece, bend it double, insert a small florescent glass bead on the ends opposite the loop, make a small 90 degree bend in both ends to hold the bead; its stiff, light, very small diameter, and cheap; all the qualities I need in a puller-p- Re: Fly threadders as pull loops

I have made a couple of pull loops using the high vis yellow power pro - 10 lb test.
It is very thin, strong, and easy to see. I make each one so that the loop is about 6 inches and I loop it over one of the rod stands when I am not using it so it doesn't fall on the floor. I think that I am using the same threaders that I made about 50 rods ago. The braided line works much better than mono, or any nylon thread, because it is so thin and strong. One thing I did find is that I have to be careful to NOT put a finger in the loop. I use a power wrapper, and if I get my finger in the loop and don't stop the wrapper in time, I do get a pretty good pain in the finger as the finger brings the wrapper to a stop. Now, I only hole the loop on the outside of the loop, so I don't have the misadventure of the power wrapper trying to cut off my finger with the power pro line. Use the high vis line since it is so much easier to see and more difficult to lose. Take care Roger Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
