Hi Guys,
I'm currently building a 12-14 wt. on a CTS Revo blank. I would like to use sz. A thread because its easier to work with but I wasn't sure if I should double wrap the guides. Any thoughts? Also, with LS Supreme regular build, would any of you reccomend multiple coats of epoxy? Thanks very much and have a great day! Andrew Re: Wraps and Epoxy for heavyweight Fly Rod

Just completed a 16/18 Revo. Single layer black Gudebrod Black A Nylon thread. Six coats of Perma Gloss. Titanium Frame Gold Cermets well prepped and filed. Epoxy will be fine. I would use one thin precoat followed by two coats of the epoxy following exactly the manufacturers recommended interval between coats. Don't forget to insure tunnels full. The rod will be subject to some abuse and the thread coatings will do much to make the rod last a long time. I was highly pleased with the results and so was the new owner.
[www.rodbuilding.org] Michael Taylor presenter of the seminar on blue water fly rods, at ICRBE 2008, in High Point, NC helped me get the set up and finishing of this rod right. Anyone interested in building blue water fly rods should make plans on attending the show. The build styles for these fly rods are highly unique and ergonomically on target for the long fights with huge fish. [home.earthlink.net] Edited 3 time(s). No need to double wrap guides, size A alone is plenty strong enough. I don't recommend anymore epoxy that necessary to get a nice finish and protect the threads from weather/water intrusion. The epoxy doesn't structurally improve anything on the rod, it's simply a finish. Re: Wraps and Epoxy for heavyweight Fly Rod

Single A wraps will be enough - you will destroy the rod before you'll pull them through the wraps.
