Two Piece Kayak Rod Recomendation
Posted by: Robert Egan (---.mia.bellsouth.net)

A good friend asked me to build him a rod for Redfish from a kayak and honestly I haven't fished with a two piece rod in years and never from a yak. So I need some suggestions for make and model numbers for an appropriate blank. I have accounts at both Merrick and Mudhole and would like to provide him with a custom rod that will do the job at a reasonable cost.

Thanks in advance

Bob

Rogue also makes a nice blank with an X-Fast tip if he likes them. P705-2, same ratings as above rods.
If you've used a All Star Top's and Tails, St Croix 3C68MXF or Rainshadow ISB822.5 it's similar.

I would recommend a fast action, medium light rod, 7 feet with a short butt (no more than 8").

My first choice would be a St. Croix 2S70MLF2

Second Choice would be a Rainshadow ISB843F (2 piece) or SB841-3 (3 piece).

Rod should be rated for 6 to 12 lb line and lure weights of 1/8 to 1/2 oz.
