I regards to a post I made a few weeks ago about my brothers wrist condition and building him a rod he could use that didn't cause any pain while casting.
I purchased 2 of the Cobra Handles from the W.K. Jenson Inc. They are in Junction City , OR. I talked to Jeff Franklin, Vice President of Marketing. A really helpful guy and knows his product well. I did a temporary fit-up of the handle system and trigger seat on an old 6' casting blank I had. Gary tried it out and he says it fits him perfectly. We used 2 ea 2" wide Velcro straps to secure it to his forearm. He made about 100 false casts with it and felt no pain whatsoever. It held his wrist in a perfectly neutral position. The only modification we will have to make is a 2"x 1" x 1/4" deep oval cutout in the rubber grip where the heel of his thumb (if that's what you call it) rests against it. That will bring his thumb more in line with top center of the grip. He wears a wrist brace, so we had to make allowances for the thickness of the brace in that one particular spot on the rubber grip. When I get the rod built , I will post a couple of photos for everyone to see. I know there were a bunch of builders with similar needs interested in the outcome. I will post again later when the project is final. Thanks to Bob Balcombe, Steve Libby, Tom Kirkman, Mike Barkley, Craig Givens ,John Bumstead ,and all the others that helped me get this project started. If anyone needs more info, please feel free to shoot me an e mail. Jay Re: Cobra Handle System

This system sounded perfect for your brother. I am glad to have helped in some very small way. You're efforts to comfort your brother will not go un-noticed, I am sure, as I have gone gone thru similar. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
