Two questions on TruOil?
1. Do you apply the oil with your finger? 2. How many coats do you apply? I have used my finger in a lengthwise direction and about 10 coats but I think that is overkill. Do more coats actually sink in to the coark or just buildup on the surface? Thanks Re: TruOil

Hi Dave
#1- apply with your finger ...lightly #2- After each coat I use 400 wet or dry sandpaper... lightly and I usually put on four coats...again...lightly True oil and any other liquids will not "sink in"...they will just build-up- 10 coats is a real over kill Tight Lines Tight Wraps Fishin'Stix by Fred Re: TruOil

Cork does not absorb much, that's why it floats. I only put on 2 and maybe 3 coats at the most. It seals the surface and it makes keeping the the cork clean much easier.
10 coats is overkill and just a waste of TruOil. Bob Crook La Pine, OR Re: TruOil

i use my finger, I sand in between, i put as many as I feel is warranted.
I've been pleased with the results of 3 coats on some rods, and others its taken 7. it depends on what you are looking for Re: TruOil

I like to gradually darken burl cork with repeated light coats of Tru Oil until I get the precise shade desired. Usually that means anywhere from 4 - 7 coats. The more coats the slicker the surface becomes so I knock down some of the gloss with a light sanding with 320 or 400 wet dry as a final touch.
Tru Oil really brings out the best of burl cork. Dave Re: TruOil

Minimum two coats for sealing, 3-5 coats depending upon the amout of sheen the customer wants, apply with finger lengthwise then spin rod and lightly run finger over the cork to work into grain, buff with 0000 steel wool between coats. Ray Zarychta Glastonbury, CT Re: TruOil

How long do you let it dry between coats?
Thanks, RON. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
