Need help locating large cork for egg size butt grip

The size that fits my had perferctly is a Grade AA Large egg. A rough measurement is 2 1/4 x 1 3/4 inches. I've done several searches on this board and read of the articles and done hours of searches looking through the differrent sponsers catalogs. None have any information on where I can locate either a block this size or pieces to make a block this size by glueing together like all of the articles say for smaller diameter handles.

I want to stay with cork for continuity and would welcome any information on either if such an animal exists or if someone has made a similar size from cork and how they did it.

My budget dosen't allow for much expermenting otherwise I would just start piecing stuff together until I found something that would work.

Try emailing Andy Dear at Lamar Fishing, see if he can help.

I used to build a lot of cork decoys and got my cork from a cork supplier that is not a sponsor. .... [www.corkstore.com] The blocks are not not cheap as you will see but they do have some yoga blocks and ski waxing blocks that may work which are more reasonable.

You might try gluing up cork sheets larger than the width needed and then turn it down. That ought to be a lot less expensive than buying a cork block.

Just a thought: [www.midwestsupplies.com]
You'd have to look up the sizes, but it is a blank of sorts. Can glue two butt to butt, with a colored spacer even, if more length is required.

Go to your local dollar store and see if they have any cork plant trivet thingies - basically about 1/4" thick by 8" or so around. I found a bunch at my dollar store and bought them - you can then cut them to any size desired with an appropriate hole saw. Makes very nice grip material. If you can't find them there, I'll bet you can find them in any big box store's garden section - probably even Wally World. Then, go to an auto parts store and buy some rubberized cork gasket material - this is tough stuff and will be a good finish for the bottom of the buttcap to protect the more fragile standard cork. Glue it up, turn it to desired dimension, and voila!
