Local saltwater shop just put 6 new Gloom(is) spinning rods on his featured rod rack. These are the new ones with the two piece Fuji seats with a flattened burl spacer in the middle. High price, beautiful action and two have been sold and they left the store. Only one problem - you can not place a reel on the seats - will not fit with the spacer in place - I smiled pointed it out to the store manager and quietly left. The two spinning rods I delivered do not have this problem. Re: Gloom (is) Spinning Rods

Careful. You can run into the same problem, I think, with what is left of the gloomis super stickers being sold to custom builders as I reported here a few months ago. There are 2 problems. The flattened middle spacer isnt flush on some, and its not long enough for even some very small reel feet - if you put a fore grip on flush to the top of the threaded portion, you can end up not being able to spin the hood back far enough to be able to mount a reel in the seat. Do a good fit check including the reel and foregrip (if any) of choice before gluing. I like the components but the quality on the ones I got was low. I had to rework them, and in a few cases even replaced the insert totally - I wont buy the insert again, just the components. Not a big deal, but it could have been if I didnt detect the issues 1st.
[www.rodbuilding.org] Edit: Ooopps. Bill I notice now you said Fuji seats. I thought you were referring to the super stickers. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 07/25/2007 05:47PM by Steven Libby. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
