In the process of building first rod UL and thought i would try the fuji concept guides. My question is what is difference of BYAG-8J and BYAG-8LJ? I had considered using the BLVLG guides. Would it be much of a difference using either on a UL(5.5 ft) in terms of weight and casting.

Scott -- Not trying to be a "smartie" here with the 8J & 8LJ, but you are not correct with your info about the two guides. The 8LJ frame is lower than the 8J. The 8LJ is a transition type guide. The 8LJ works really well in between, when using BYAG guides and then going to BLAG guides.

Roger -- To answer your question. Both series of guide will work for what you want them to do. I prefer the newer Concept guides, like the BYAG & BLAG, combination set-up. There is a diference in weight. the newer Alconite guides are lighter and I feel as if they are also more efficient for ease of casting. Then again if you would like to use a similar set-up, back to Hardloy, you could use BLVLG & BLG or BYLG & BLG configurations. If I can be of any other help and you would like to discuss this in more detail, I am always available to call at 931-684-6164.
