Liquid vs. Gel type rod glues

I am still a fan of Flex Coat 20 min rod glue. I like how it flows while assembling handles and seats, and can mix it in my epoxy mixer rigged with and aligator clip on an arm that holds a mixing stick.
Just wondering if anyone else still prefers the liquid type, as all I read about are the gel types. And yes, I have tried Rod Bond.

I to use the Flexcoat 5min and 30?min. It's just simpler for me to have one less product. I have tried the paste types as well and keep coming back to the liquids. Like you, I like the "flow". I think the liguid gets into places where the paste's cannot. It moves, and I believe it fills better, has less air pockets and is more solid.

Can't stand the liquids (except for making ramps and doing tip tops). Way to messy for me. The gels stay where you put them and bond very well

It depends on the application, but we use mostly gels, because there's less excess in the joints to worry about.

I like both the liquid and the gels. The liquid is a little messy but i like it when doing EVA and i like the gel when i do cork and such

The Pac Bay Rodsmith epoxy I tried was about 1/2 way between the two. It stayed well till I assembled the parts without dripping all over and I noticed that it flowed a bit when everything was assembled and vertical. Didn't see any movement in tight contact areas, so I could clean up a forget it, and it set faster than Rod Bond, but slower than Flex Coat 20. About an hour to set, full strength glue up around the time Rod Bond sets up.

I tried the Pac Bay stuff too. It was nice to work with, but the odor was pretty stiff. Other than that, I think it is a great blend of properties.

Rod Bond is the only gel I have used.
