Freshwater fiberglass spinning

I grew up fishing Shakespear Wonder Rods, and still have a few I like to fish from time to time. For light freshwater spinning, a good glass rod still has a feel of it's own.

Does anyone know if good quality, lighter glass blanks like this are still available? Any direction would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Marc

Batson produces a pretty large selection - lots of the sponsor carry them.

I thought I was the only one that liked the ol' Wonder Rods! I've had several. I've got one that my Dad bought with S&H Greenstamps back in '61 or '62. Ulgy Green, 6-1/2' Tennessee Grip, probably a 2-6lb. I literally fished the guides off that thing as a kid. My Dad had a "Pro" re-wrap it for me 25+ years ago as a surprise and it came back with big, heavy double foot guides on it. The kind with the nasty green shock rings. As you can imagine, that all but killed the action. It's been here in the rafters on my "to do" list for years.

I've got all the Batson's in stock, but they're all quite a bit faster than this one. The Yellow Kencor "T" Magnaglass UL is the closest I've felt in action to this old Shakespeare.

Mark,

I hope you get around to rebuilding your Dad's Wonder Rod. It sounds, well, wonderful! Anything you would suggest from Lamiglas? Nobody does 'glass like Lamiglas...

Thanks, RON.

Ron,

I'm sure Lami's got it, but I'm not familiar with their part #'s yet. I spent some time with Todd from Lamiglass at their booth at ICAST last week. I bent a few of their UL & Fly blanks and they have a glass series that's pretty darn close. I just haven't built/fished one yet, where I have fished the Kencors.

You might go to Lami's website (Sponsor link to the left) and drop Todd Vivian a note. He'll put you on to the right blank.
