New Concept or Spacing Chart?

I am in need of some opinions please. I am building two rods for a local universities' bass fishing club. As such, I/they do not know what size reels will be used now or in the future on the spinning rod. So, would I be better off using a standard guide spacing set up or set teh spin rod up with a mid sized reel (2500-3000)?
Or, can I get a generalization from teh spacing charts for the butt guide (size and distance) and use the New Concept from there? I guess that would kind of defeat the purpose though. Maybe just set the rod up for a specific size reel and instruct the club to only use that size reel? I just want to make sure I set up the rod with the best versatility as far as reels go but still offer teh best performance possible. Thoughts, comments and sticks and stones accepted! Because you are talking bass fishing and spinning rods, the techniques they will the applied toward most likely will be lighter line stuff like drop shotting, or shaky heads. Small worms small weights.
I would set them up using 2500 series reels as most the bass fishermen I work with don’t use any thing larger then 2500’s to keep the weight down. What university are you working with? Re: New Concept or Spacing Chart?

I agree with Steve, I never use a reel bigger than a 2000 for Largemouth Bass fishing. I have been using a 1000 series and small plastics for Smallmouth. Re: New Concept or Spacing Chart?

Agreed - 2000 series is probably the best bet. Not much difference between 1000 and 2000 series anyways, so anyone using a 1000 class reel wouldn't notice any difference. Re: New Concept or Spacing Chart?
