Boy I did it this time (need help w/ reel seat

Ok....i did it this time, new I would do it sooner or later....Anyhow I finished glueing my reelseat with my overlayed handled today on a flyrod. Basically the metal part of the top of the real seat is glued to the realseat and hidden by the cork which is bored out....

On the bottom the non-threaded piece of the reel seat doesnt line up with the top piece. I need it turned about 90 degrees. Not sure where to start. I used flex coat five minute epoxy. I tried heating with a lighter, and moving it and it wouldnt budge.

Any help on where the best place to start is...I really dont want to cut off the handle, what can i try to get that end threaded piece to budge.....Feel free to laugh.

Jeffery,
I have been successful in boiling some handles off. I would only submerse the part that you want to come off as the glue may soften in a place you don't want it to. I would also be careful in "twisting" off the seat as the shear forces my cause the blank to delaminate.

Hope that this helps you out a bit.

very sorry to hear about the eye, hope that all is going well for you now. I am glad that the suggestion helped you out. I just had to redo a handle in the same manner. Don't really want to share why I had to do it over... Lets just say OOPPPSSS. LOL.

take care and god's speed.
