As curtain colored EVA is either very hard or impossible to find I thought about trying to dye it. Anybody tried this before? Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Can EVA be dyed??

i dont know, but you might try vacuuming it to dye it. it might help get the dye inside. i hear that if you do vacuum it you get better results if you vacuum, release, vacuum, release, etc. it apparently gives trapped air a chance to escape. it works on woods at least. let us know how it goes. Raymond, I have done it twice. Both times going from grey to a darker color ( red and blue ). They are both about three months old now and so far holding up well. Maybe a few more months, who knows? So far, so good.
The red one, I wiped full strength Rit dye on it and gave it a day in the sun. I repeated this five times. The blue one, believe it or not, I used a large permenant magic marker. Same process, put it on and a day in the sun for five applications. I'm hoping, that having passed a three month test, they are good to go. Re: Can EVA be dyed??

Thanks guys,
Royce, I'm gonna try dying a white one PINK and a blue one PURPLE. That is if I don't run into some already the color I need before to long. Even if I do find some PINK or PURPLE I think i'm gonna try the dye anyway. Never know when a curtain color will be needed and having the ability to arrive at your own is a big advantage. Thanks again! Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
