10in rear grip too short for HS blank?

Have one of the Cascade Composite Hot Shot (7000?) blanks. I have pretty long arms, and tend to use rather long butt grips, but sometimes overdo it and have to shorten them.

I put a 10" blue flocked rear grip on this 7' 6" blank. And there it has sat for about a year. When I put it on it seemed OK, but looking at it afterwards it seems too short to me. I'm debating whether or not to cut it off and put something else on. What size grips do you normally use with a 7'6" HS rod? Most of my rods have been bass rods or longer steelhead type rods, so don't really have anything to go by.

I think you need to go out and fish it a bit in order to see if the length is about right for you and how you fish. I wouldn't know any other way for you to figure this out. It doesn't sound too long to me, but I may not handle the rod nor fish quite the same as you do.

Unless requested otherwise ... I generally use a 10" butt and 2.5" fore on HS9000 blanks, a 7'6" length. You should be fine, give it a test to know for sure.

I use 10-12" rear grips on my similar rods regularly. Also depends on the length of the reel seat, which can make up some of the difference.

I'd tell you to give it a shot as-is. Too long a reel seat, and you will lose effective casting length anyway. Try getting used to the "normal" size grip and see if you like it in the end. You can always cut it off later if you hate it.

Unless you already are 100% convinced that you hate it, in which case, you should just change it now.
