Question about CPW and chuck

I got the Custom PowerWrap with the 3 jaw lathe type chuck upgrade. I haven't been able to pick up a chuck for my Jet Mini(midi?) lathe yet. I was wondering if the CPW chuck is easy enough to take off and if it will interchange with my Jet lathe. If so, then I can get started playing with my lathe.

I was looking at the chuck, but don't really see how it comes off the CPW and don't want to screw anything up if its not worth the hassle.

I am not sure about the CPW chuck, but I just put together a little different chuck system for my Jet Mini. In place of the standar 1"-8 thread mounted jaw chuck, I used a 1/32"-1/2" drill type chuck mounted on a #2 morse taper shank. It is great for turning with Andy's mandrels, and allows quick, each change between sizes. To turn short foregrips I just mount a 4"-5" drill blank in the chuck and don't need to use the tailstock.

It is compact and very safe as this chuck has a really smooth profile. The keyless chuck and #2 MT shank can be had for about $50 if you go with import, and $100 will get you good quality.

Just something to consider.

Forgot to mention - it is a keyless drill chuck.

If the chuck used on the CPE is the Taig light duty self centering 3-jaw model, it is likely to fit your Jet. I think the threads match. It should unscrew from the CPW, counterclockwise. This can be hard to do unless you have some means of gripping the headstock shaft. If you just grap the pulley on the back side you can slip the set screw around the headstock and scar it. Be careful.
